This course has two pathways for you to choose after your application: Software Engineering and Web Development or Hardware, Networking and Systems Security.
The Software Engineering and Web Development pathway is perfect for you if you’re interested in a career in database, website, mobile or desktop application development. The Level 3 programme provides you with the skills and knowledge to work in an ever-changing and expanding industry. You will gain access to the latest technologies and development environments, enabling you to implement mobile phone applications and database driven websites whilst evolving your programming skills using languages such as C++, Java and C#.
You’ll learn how to create solutions that include mobile applications, databases and applications for the web and desktop systems.
The Hardware, Networking and Systems Security pathway is perfect for you if you are interested in a career in system support, embedded systems, networking or security. The Level 3 programme provides you with the skills and knowledge to work in an ever-changing and expanding industry. You’ll gain access to the latest technologies, hardware systems and networking equipment, enabling you to implement and manage virtual networks, maintain computing systems and develop control systems whilst also evolving your programming skills.
You’ll learn how to design and build networks, develop control systems, implement security within networks and maintain computer systems
We have industry standard computer labs and equipment, so you’ll get real experience working in the same development environments as you would in industry. This is all taught by experienced programmers and developers, who will show you not only the technical side of things, but the professional skills you’ll need to be a successful developer as well.
Upon completion of this two year course you can progress onto FdSc Computing at University Centre South Devon or consider employment within the sector.
