Community Sport and Health Officer Apprenticeship Level 3

South Devon College

As an apprentice you will learn how to identify two engaging and innovative sport or physical activities to set up, deliver and evaluate.

The projects should aim to initiate meaningful behaviour change in set target groups. You will source and use customer insights to design the programme of intervention and behaviour change.

By identifying social barriers and personal motivations of customers, you’ll create clear objectives and measures of success. You will consult with the local community and individuals by setting up focus groups and meetings. Also linking with county sport partnerships or National Governing Bodies to create a programme to take to the market.

You will also have to plan the strategy and tactics to empower target groups and individuals (from hard to reach, inactive populations) to take up and sustain physical activity. You should consider a range of approaches to support engagement, manage disruptive behaviour and deliver feedback. You will evaluate your projects and the delivery, engagement and ultimate success of the programmes, and make recommendations for next steps. The apprenticeship will take between 16-20 months to complete – only exceptional candidates will be likely to complete in the shorter time frame.
